CNC 5-Axis Gantry Portal Milling Machine

Zimmermann's FZP27 is suitable for use in aerospace component manufacturing, the company says.

Zimmermann Machining Solutions announced May 6 it had sold an FZP27 portal milling machine to Max Eickworth. In a company statement, Zimmermann said their 5-axis gantry machine would expand production at Eickworth’s Bremen-Arsten, Germany-based aviation and aerospace component manufacturing business.

The FZP27, Zimmermann said, is equipped with a machining center for large volume components of aluminum or ureol and features a working range of 118.11-787.40 inches in the X-axis, 98.43-157.48 inches in the Y-axis and 59.06-78.74 inches in the Z-axis. The device’s spindle power uses a Heidenhain TNC7 control and has spindle power of 24 kW at 18,000 rpm. The FZP27 is also compatible with several 2-axis milling heads, Zimmermann said, including the S2, C2, C3 and VH10.

Zimmermann North America President Cornelius Kiesel noted the sale is the most recent his company has made to Max Eickworth.

“This is the fourth portal milling machine Max Eickworth has purchased from Zimmermann,” Kiesel said. “A clear sign of trust, quality and proven cooperation.”
