Motor Spindles Offer High Speeds and High Torque

New cartridge system means users can implement two different machining modes in one space; suitable for mill/turn centers, 3- and 5-axis milling, and can be used in conjunction with a B-axis.

SAUTER FEINMECHANIK is presenting a motor spindle series for driven tools with particularly high-power density. The motor spindles are suitable for turning-milling centers as well as three- and five-axis milling machines and can be used in conjunction with a B-axis if required.

Thanks to a new type of cartridge system, users can implement two different machine concepts in the same installation space and thus save a second machine tool. In the speed-drive mode, the motor spindles reach very high speeds ‑ up to 30,000 revolutions per minute; and in the torque drive mode, torques of up to 450 Nm are possible.

Up to now, two differently configured machine tools were necessary in order to carry out milling work with high torques or high speeds. Thanks to the new cartridge design, the motor spindle series for driven tools from Sauter makes it possible for the first time to implement both applications on just one machine. If, for example, it is necessary to switch from the torque drive to the speed drive motor spindle, it is sufficient to replace the cartridge of the spindle. In addition, only minor adjustments need to be made in the control cabinet area.

The series also offers users maximum flexibility in other ways, too: the spindles are available with different lubrications, clamps, interfaces, and milling heads. The pre-installed sensors are provided by Sauter, too. The motor spindles can be requested with integrated planar system control, leakage test, and temperature and vibration monitoring. This means that the duty cycle of the overall system, the process stability, and the metal removal rate can be varied depending on customer requirements. Learn more at www.sauter-group.com
