Five-axis machining plus CNC turning

Fusing the capabilities of a simultaneous five-axis machining center and CNC turning center, Mazak Corp.'s Integrex e-1550V machines of large workpieces in a single setup through a 50-HP, 12,000-rpm milling spindle that can tilt 150 degrees and a 50-HP, 300 rpm rotating table. Maximum workpiece dimensions are 78.7 by 56.7 in. (11,000 lbs); maximum swing/turning diameter is 78.7 in. The unit features a standard 2-pallet changer and 40-tool magazine (with options of up to 330 tools available). Rapid-traverse rates in XYZ are 1575 ipm. Contouring accuracy is in 0.0001-degree increments in B and C. The e-1550V features Mazak's e-Tower, which oversees delivery of instructions, reports, alarm notifications, and other messages to and from the machine tool from remote locations. A multi-purpose CCD camera delivers visual checks and confirmations with ease. The machine also uses Mazatrol 640M Pro CNC software, which allows programming of milling, drilling, tapping, and turning in the same manner as a machining center. (www.mazakusa.com)
