JET Tools announced in March that it had expanded its portfolio of turning products with new gear head engine lathes and large spindle bore lathes. In a company release, JET Tools said the new lathes improved on safety and cleanliness and are suitable for use in job shops, industrial facilities, custom machining and fabrication shops and technical schools.
Both lathes feature standardized safety equipment, coolant systems, splash guards and chip trays. In terms of capacity, the gear-head models can handle a 2-inch spindle bore while the large spindle bore model can go up to 4 ½-inch bore for larger pieces. The large spindle bore model lathe is also UL 987 certified and TAA compliant.
In a company statement, Guna Sathyamurthy, JET Tools’ product manager, said the lathes were suitable for typical turning equipment jobs and featured high capacity.
“Shops need machines that keep pace with real-world demands without sacrificing safety or ease of use,” Sathyamurthy said. “Our gear head engine lathes and large spindle bore lathes are built to deliver serious turning capability, dependable performance and the confidence operators need to do more every shift.”
