Howmet Aerospace and Stanley Black & Decker announced December 22 that Howmet would purchase Stanley’s Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing, LLC business for $1.8 billion. The all-cash sale is expected to close in the first half of 2026.

Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing, also known as CAM, produces precision fasteners, fluid fittings and other aerospace and defense parts, under brand names Aerofit, Voss and QRP for clients like Boeing and Airbus as well as defense contractors.

According to a statement from Howmet CEO John C. Plant, the purchase will broaden his company’s portfolio for aerospace clients.

“The acquisition of CAM is a major step in our strategy to build out our differentiated fastener portfolio,” said Plant, Howmet CEO. “CAM’s established brands, engineering prowess, and deep customer relationships are a perfect complement to our existing business. This transaction will allow us to better serve our aerospace and defense customers with a broader offering of mission-critical fastening solutions and represents a compelling use of capital to drive value for our shareholders.”

A company statement from Stanley CEO Chris Nelson said the sale would raise funds for reducing Stanley’s outstanding debt.

“Divesting CAM reflects our ongoing dedication to enhancing shareholder value and focusing on growing our biggest brands and businesses,” Nelson said. “The proceeds from this transaction are expected to significantly reduce our debt, positioning us to achieve our target leverage ratio of 2.5 times net debt to adjusted EBITDA.”

Stanley estimated the spun-off aviation parts brand will generate between $405 to $415 million in revenue for financial year 2025, while Howmet said it expects that figure to rise to between $485 to $495 million for the following financial year.
