In May, Seco Tools announced the launch of its new ER HP collet chucks for use in high-speed milling and 5-axis machining. In a company statement, Seco said the new tools improve surface finish and tool life.
According to Seco, the ER HP collet chucks are simpler to implement than other complex toolholder systems: the ER HP uses a roller key for installation, a feature Seco says reduces time spent on changeovers and downtime. The new chucks are also reportedly designed with an eye towards addressing tool slippage, vibration, and unreliable cramping.
In a statement, Yves Heitz, Global Product Manager for Machine Solutions at Seco, said the new chucks will enable manufacturers to mill ambitiously.
“Our ER HP Collet Chuck is all about giving manufacturers the confidence to push their processes further without sacrificing precision or reliability. By combining fine balancing, high clamping force, and easy implementation, we’re helping our customers achieve smoother finishes, longer tool life, and greater sustainability in their operations,” Heitz said.
