Teledyne Technologies subsidiary Teledyne e2v announced March 5 the launch of the Perciva 5D camera, an industrial camera that features short-range 3D vision using a single CMOS sensor. The device is suitable for robotics and 3D industrial process monitoring.

According to Teledyne, the Perciva 5D uses proprietary processing to capture 2D images like a normal camera as well as 3D images at a calibrated range. The device aligns 2D frames within 3D depth maps, aligned using proprietary Angular Sensitive Pixel software, to generate depth maps or point-cloud outputs. A “Neural Processing Unit,” Teledyne says, allows neural net models to run on the device.

The Perciva 5D, Teledyne says, can operate using ambient light in indoor or outdoor settings. It also features a GenICam-compliant GigE vision interface and an IP6x-rated housing with industrial M12 connectors. The device weighs 230 grams, operates on 5W of energy, and integrates with Teledyne’s Spinnaker 4 API and Spinview in addition to other machine-vision software platforms.
