RoboDK launched the RoboDK CAM program February 5. According to the company, a robotics and programming company founded in 2015, the new program can reduce deployment times for automated machining cells performing a variety of operations, including milling, drilling, deburring, cutting and additive manufacturing. According to the company, early software tests shows the software can reduce the amount of testing necessary to deploy machining automation by up to 40% depending on the complexity of the automation.

In a statement, Albert Nubiola, RoboDK’s CEO, said the new software simplifies programming and required specialization.

“RoboDK CAM is a milestone software release that eliminates the complexity associated with programming robots to perform machining tasks,” Nubiola said. “Automation drives efficiency, but complex programming and multi-vendor system integration troubles have been serious roadblocks for companies looking to adopt robots. RoboDK CAM addresses these challenges directly.”

The RoboDK CAM is available in two different configurations for different workflows. The standalone configuration is intended to manage all relevant tasks from toolpath generation to robot simulation and code generation with a single interface. The integrated configuration is designed for professionals intending to use the software within existing CAD or CAM platforms and is compatible with Fusion 360, SolidWorks and Mastercam to extend existing CAM workflows.

Sergei Kanivets, Application Engineer at RoboDK, said the new CAM software simplifies the process of adding robotic machining to existing workflow.

“RoboDK CAM makes it easier for manufacturers to adopt robotic machining without overhauling their existing processes,” he said. “Because it is built on the RoboDK platform, we can deliver a complete CAM solution at a significantly lower cost than traditional alternatives.”
