Citel announced it launched a line of surge protection devices January 20. The LAN Series PoE Surge Protection Devices, or SPDs, are designed to protect devices powered by Ethernet from transient surges that can damage equipment. According to Citel, the SPDs are suitable for protecting IP cameras, midspans and outdoor switches.
The LAN series SPDs include an IP67-metal enclosure, GDST-SASD technology, 10G bps speed Ethernet connectivity, IEEE 802.3bt, a maximum discharge current of 16kA 8/20µs and shielded RJ45 connectors. They can be safely operated in temperatures between -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 degrees to 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
Additionally, the LAN series SPDs are available in two versions: the LAN-10G-POE-CR comes with metal cable glands, and the LAN-10G-POE-CRPS comes with plastic cable glands.
In a statement, Kurt Wattelet, CITEL Inc. Product Manager, said the LAN series surge protectors can maintain connectivity while still keeping network equipment safe. “Network reliability starts with protection,” Wattelet said.
