On January 13, Harpak-ULMA announced the launch of its ULMA TFX thermoformer. According to a company statement, the TFX is suitable for use in packaging food, medical, and consumer packaged goods. The latest version reportedly improves on earlier models with higher throughput, a new vacuum system, automated film alignment, zone-specific heating and constant-atmosphere controls.

The TFX also features new proprietary technology for forming and sealing which Harpak-ULMA says allows the device to run thinner base films. The packaging machine company noted this capability would be useful for meat-brick applications or other processors seeking to cut down plastic consumption.

Other features focus on process control. The TFX has centralized recipe control to allow its settings to be custom-set by production order as well as monitors for film, electricity, air and gas, which the device compiles into PDF form at the end of each run.
