Star Cutter Company announced the launch of its Double Pilot brand reamer on January 7. According to the Michigan-based machining company, the reamer is suitable for use in deep-hole and high precision bore operations like hydraulic, pneumatic and aircraft components, engine and powertrain parts, orthopedic devices and industrial cylindrical components with tight tolerances.
In a statement, Star Cutter company said the new product improves surface finishes and extends tool life, as well as increasing the manufacturing process’ predictability thanks to consistent results.
Rick Rickert, Star Cutter’s Round Tool Product Manager, said the reamer improves performance. “In many applications, manufacturers are seeing tool life improvements of up to ten times compared to conventional reamers,” Rickert said, adding that it also produces satisfactory surface finishes.
