Vapor Degreasing Fluids

MicroCare says its specialty fluids function as a replacement for fluids now discontinued by 3M.

Following 3M’s discontinuation of its Novec-brand specialty fluids in 2025, MicroCare said December 5 that it would offer matched specialty fluids to replace them from its Tergo and MicroCare Engineered fluid brands.

According to the Connecticut-based company’s statement, MicroCare’s Tergo fluids have high density and low surface tension and offer similar functions to discontinued Novec fluid lines 7100, 71DE, 7200, 72DE, 72DA and 73DE. The fluids’ low surface tension allows its use in vapor degreasing of complex machined parts or small components with tight tolerances, MicroCare said.

In a statement, MicroCare VP of Sales & Marketing Ray Bellavance said his company’s products would enable continuity in operation for machinists depending on specialty fluids for vapor degreasing.

“Machining and metalworking shops depend on absolute consistency,” Bellavance said. “As Novec products disappear from the market, our fluids offer a proven, drop-in solution that keeps production moving and ensures parts are cleaned to specification.”

“We understand the demands of precision manufacturing,” Bellavance continued. “Our goal is to provide a transition that’s immediate, reliable, and worry-free.”
