Blue Light Laser Scanner
LK Metrology has announced the release of its L100NX laser scanner for use on coordinate measuring machines. Unlike its red light predecessor, the L100, the new scanner uses 450-nanometer blue light, which LK Metrology says reduces noise in scan data. The U.K.-based metrology company says this makes the new laser scanner well-suited for the aerospace and automotive industries.
The scanner features a wide strip width of 110 millimeters, a scanning rate of up to 530,000 points per second for larger components and a 2,000-point laser line. The L100NX uses sensors to automatically adjust laser power based on scanned material, allowing it to adjust for scanning shiny or mixed material components without manual intervention. The sensor also includes an integrated rotation adaptor for scanning complicated geometric shapes and an integrated field-of-view projector for displaying the coverage area on the scanned part.
In a statement, LK Metrology’s product manager for laser scanners, Kristof Peeters, said the scanner’s combination of blue light and sensor adjustments is an improvement on previous models. “The launch of the L100NX underscores LK Metrology’s commitment to developing innovative metrology equipment that empowers customers to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy in their inspection process,” Peeters said.
