Ceratizit introduced two new solid carbide drills October 2. In a company statement, the tool company said the WTX-UNI and WTX-Deep UNI are designed to make tool selection simpler by being useful for work with a variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened steels up to 54 Hardness Rockwell C.

According to the company, the WTX-UNI is made of 99% recycled raw materials, and its proprietary shape provides self-centering and stability. A DPA74S coating provides chip evacuation, longevity, and less risk for jams.

The WTX-UNI is available in different diameters and depths, as well as a version with four guide lands called WTX-Quattro. The base model drill is available in 3mm through 20mm in depths of 3xD or 5xD. The WTX-Deep UNI is similar, but extends the drilling capacity up to 50xD and comes in diameters of 3-14mm or 3-8 mm.

In a statement, Managing Director of Ceratizit USA’s Cutting Tools Division Troy Wilt said the wide applications for the drills make them a good fit for companies working with several different kinds of metals.

“For shops working with a variety of metals on a regular basis, the WTX-UNI makes everyone’s job easier,” said Wilt. “The drill range reduces inventory quantities while also delivering reliable cutting results.”
