Single-Spindle, Twin-Turret Turning
DN SOLUTIONS introduced the TL 4100 single-spindle, twin-turret horizontal turning center. Its solid construction, twin-turret design and machining flexibility make the new machine ideal for turning large artillery shells.
Large artillery production requires a substantial amount of material to be removed, and the TL 4100 is designed to use both the upper and lower turrets simultaneously to double the machining productivity in every pass. Additionally, the machine is built for optimal chip removal and chip flushing to handle the large volume of chips generated in aggressive pinch turning applications.
Featuring a 12-in. chuck and a maximum turning length of 1,555 mm (61.2 in.), the TL 4100 can accommodate stock used in a wide variety of large-caliber artillery applications. The maximum turning diameter is 480 mm (18.9 in.) for the upper turret and 360 mm (14.2 in.) for the lower turret, and the machine can handle bar fed applications up to 102 mm (4.0 in.) of diameter.
The 2,800 r/min spindle features a maximum horsepower of 37 kW (49.6 hp) and maximum torque of 2,400 Nm (1,771 lbs./ft.)
A total of up to 20 tool stations across the upper and lower turrets allow complicated parts that require multiple tools to be completed in a single set-up. Reliable, servo-driven turrets feature a single-station indexing time of only 0.25 seconds, reducing the cycle times required to machine parts. Live tooling is available as an option on the upper turret.
The TL 4100 is supplied with a FANUC 0i-TF Plus control as standard.
In addition to military and defense applications, the TL 4100 is well suited for machining shafts, gears, housings, brackets, bearing housings, pistons/cylinders, and motor shafts.
