A new line of high precision power chucks (PPC) from MicroCentric Corp. (www.microcentric.com) have a dual-actuator design that provides high levels of clamping force, speed capability and rigidity for improved accuracy at high draw-tube forces. Increased chuck life is also attained because the internal clamping load is distributed over twice the surface area compared with the original PPC design.

MicroCentric’s QC precision jaw locating system is standard on all PPC-D models. The QC system maintains 0.0002-in. (0.005-mm) maximum workpiece runout after jaw change without remachining the top jaws. The collet chucks feature a vulcanized design for reduced chuck length providing greater rigidity and clamping force with standard accuracy within 0.0004-in. (0.010-mm) TIR.
