Cutting Tool Maker To Acquire Tooling Maker

Star Cutter Co. (www.starcutter.com) will acquire Northern Tool Sales and Service (NTSS), located in Warren, Mich., effective October 31, 2006. Terms of the stock purchase were undisclosed.
Northern Tool designs and builds tooling for special drills, reamers, step drills, form tools and solid carbide tooling for approximately 170 manufacturers of anti-lock braking systems, cylinder heads and engine blocks.
Star Cutter manufactures gear hobbing and shaping cutting tools, milling cutters, gundrills and reamers, carbide tools, PCD tools and drills. It sells its products through its partner, Star SU LLC.
Star Cutter plans to integrate all NTSS customers with Star Cutter and Star SU LLC. Star SU is the cooperative partnership of SU America Inc., the U.S. sales and manufacturing unit to Samputensili SpA (www.samputensili.it/), WINCO Industries Inc. (www.wincoindustries.com), and Bourn and Koch Inc. (www.bourn-kock.com).
