Employers Association (EA) Inc., Minneapolis, has introduced a new testing system that reportedly assists manufacturers in hiring more productive work-ers. The comprehensive battery of tests, called the Manufacturing Applicant Profile System (MAPS), measures basic skills and traits of job candidates.
During three years of re-search, EA surveyed human-resources professionals and observed production workers to identify the key competencies contributing to effective job performance.
EA has created tests for machine operators and assemblers, and plans to release a third group of tests for product and material handlers.
