Stellantis is planning a new Mopar Parts distribution center, the third it has announced in recent months, this one representing a $41-million investment. The automaker stated the almost-422,000-sq.ft operation at Forsyth, Georgia, south of Atlanta, will have about 90 United Auto Workers employees and dozens of robots in an automated inventory management system that strengthen its U.S. parts distribution and provide faster, more efficient service for dealers and customers across the Southeast.
Mopar is an operating subsidiary of the automaker that supplies genuine OEM parts and accessories for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Fiat vehicles, and it offers various aftermarket products, including performance parts, collision assistance parts, and accessories.
In May Stellantis announced a $388-million Mopar Megahub to open in Michigan in 2027, consolidate four operations and centralizing aftermarket auto parts distribution for the U.S. Previously, it opened a $64 million Mopar Parts Distribution Center in East Fishkill, New York.
Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president of Mopar North America stated the new installation in Georgia will “represents a critical investment in Mopar's long-term growth strategy and our ability to support the dedicated workforce that drives our success.
"It provides our UAW-represented employees with the tools, technology and environment they need to deliver exceptional service to our dealers and customers while supporting our commitment to efficiency and sustainability," he continued.
Similar to the Michigan project, the Southeastern Mopar Parts Distribution Center will have a 16,000-sq.ft AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system that will use 66 robots to retrieve parts from a high-density grid of bins, transporting them to processing stations where employees prepare final shipments.
According to Stellantis, the use of automation will improve the warehouse logistics by increasing order processing speed, accuracy, and inventory control, and reduce space required for storage.
The facility will leverage energy-saving technologies and sustainable building practices, reflecting Stellantis' commitment to minimizing its environmental footprint and enhancing operational performance.
