Brazilian jet-builder Embraer opened a new maintenance/repair/operations center in Fort Worth, Tex., an installation that will continue to be expanded through 2027. The projected $70-million operation occupies an existing hangar at Perot Field Alliance Airport, and a second hangar is under construction. It will have about 250 employees.
It is the thirteenth MRO center owned by Embraer among over 80 authorized service centers that it operates worldwide.
Embraer announced the Texas center last fall, to support domestic operators of its E-Jet commercial aircraft. Among the largest E-Jet operators in the U.S. market are American Airlines, Alaska Airlines (Horizon Air), Envoy Air, JetBlue, Republic Airways, and SkyWest Airlines. The latter recently placed a $3.6-billion order for 60 more E-Jets.
Embraer’s E-Jets twin-engine, narrow-body aircraft available in four models for 66 to 124 passengers, and typically in service as regional jets.
The company stated the new operation will expand its customer-service capacity to serve its U.S. customers by 53%.
“We are very excited to start operations at our new MRO facility in Fort Worth,” stated Frank Stevens, vice president Global MRO Centers for Embraer Services & Support. We will continue working to expand Embraer’s capacity, capability, and footprint in the U.S.”
