Bombardier unveiled a twin-engine private aircraft it calls “the world’s fastest and longest-range, purpose-built business jet,” noting it will achieve a range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km / 9,206 miles) at a top speed of Mach 0.94 (or 721 mph.) The OEM offered Dubai-to-Houston, Singapore-to-Los Angeles, and London-to-Perth as examples of long-distance routes that the Global 8000 aircraft will be capable of covering with non-stop service.
The new Global 8000 is scheduled to enter service in 2025 with a list price projected at $75 million.
“Today, Bombardier solidifies once more its position as the leader in business aviation with the newest member of the industry-leading Global family,” stated president and CEO Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era.”
The Global 7500 and 8000 are based on an earlier generation of business aircraft, which in 2010 Bombardier determined to redesign for ultra-long-range service. The first of the redesigned models, the Global 7500, was introduced in 2018 and about 100 have been supplied to date.
The new Global 8000 is expected to enter service in 2025.
Both Global models are capable of transporting 19 passengers and four crew members.
