Bombardier is updating its Challenger 3500 with a “sustainably” redesigned interior and other details meant to appeal to environmentally attuned customers, as well as auto-throttle and automated power control systems drawn from its Global 7500 ultra-long-range aircraft. Listed at $26.7 million and seating 10 passengers, the Challenger 3500 will enter service in the second half of 2022.
Having exited the commercial aircraft market segment, Bombardier’s products now focus on the expanding business and private jet sector. The Challenger 3500 appeals to the higher-end customer profile with a redesigned interior, promising comfort with function – including a patented seat and a reduced cabin altitude of 4,850 ft at 41,000 ft (over 31% lower than the predecessor design.)
The manufacturer claimed its new model will be the first business jet in the super mid-size segment to receive an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), certifying the aircraft’s lifecycle environmental footprint.
In addition, customers will have options for “high-end sustainable materials for the cabin,” and the aircraft will be assigned an “eco app” – a first in business aviation – developed by a specialist in air transport communications and information technology, to optimize flight plans and reduce fuel burn, to reduce the aircraft’s environmental footprint.
Other new features include a voice-controlled cabin lighting, temperature and entertainment systems; wireless chargers throughout the cabin; and a 24-inch, 4K display in its class.
