Nov. 5, 2020
A $4.4-billion, 10-year project aims to reestablish cloud-based email and data-sharing for over 3.2 million U.S. Dept. of Defense users, while enhancing cybersecurity.

A General Dynamics unit landed a $4.4-billion, 10-year contract from the U.S. Dept. of Defense and General Services Administration to “streamline” the DoD’s use of Cloud-based email and collaborative tools, while enhancing the DoD enterprise cybersecurity and information sharing protocols.

The Defense Enterprise Office Solutions (DEOS) contract will be executed by General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT.) The DEOS project goal is to reestablish DoD cloud “environments” to support over 3.2 million DoD users, and GDIT will provide engineering, migration, training, and support services for those users.

GDIT will “stand up and accredit” new cloud settings and support migration of existing DoD Office 365 tenants into the new DEOS.

"DEOS will provide new and powerful collaboration capabilities to users across the enterprise and all the way to the tactical edge while driving efficiencies and enhancing the DoD security posture" stated GDIT president Amy Gilliland. “The demand for DEOS capabilities has been further amplified by the COVID-19 crisis, and more than ever it’s imperative that we accelerate the deployment of technology to support our mission partners.”

The 10-year contract includes a five-year base period, two two-year options, and a single one-year option.
