New Line of Solid Carbide Drills
DORMER PRAMET announced November 11 the launch of its new Force line of solid carbide drills. According to the company, the new drills improve on older drills in durability, accuracy and reliability. The three lines of drills includes the Force X Generation 2, the Force Micro, and Force Deep Hole drills, each with different specialties.
The Force X Generation 2 drills feature optional through-coolant and several options for intended drill depth: 3xD, 5xD and 8xD. They also include CTW flute geometry and a titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) top-coating suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel and cast iron.
The line’s Force Micro drills are designed for smaller applications. The 0.7 to 2.95mm drills can run at 15,000 RPM and at a 140 degree point angle and can work for angular exits of up to 20 degrees. According to Dormer Pramet’s website, these drills also have an aluminum chromium nitride (AlCrN) coating meant to extend tool lifetime.
Lastly, the Force Deep Hole drills offer positional accuracy and chip evacuation for depths of 12xD, 16xD and 20xD, with internal coolant channels and a multi-layer TiAlN coating to maintain thermal stability and durability. The DHD line also includes 2xD TiAlN-tipped pilot drills.
