Sandvik Coromant launched the Coromant CoroTap 100 with -PM Geometry on October 8. The new member of the Corotap 100 range of taps is optimized for ISO P materials. According to Sandvik Coromant, the Corotap 100 with -PM geometry provides a more stable machining process, requiring little manual intervention.

The company says the -PM geometry tap comes with a chip-breaking design meant to reduce production interruptions for manual chip removal.

In a statement, Cory Carpenter, a global product and digital application specialist at Coromant, the new tap features a chip breaker chamfer and internal coolant delivery.

“By integrating precise chip management with high-quality threading, we’re helping manufacturers maintain steady production with minimal operator input,” Carpenter said. The chip breaker chamfer may seem like a subtle feature, but its effect is substantial. Applying it to just two flutes allows for efficient chip separation while preserving the accuracy and finish of the thread.”

According to Sandvik Coromant, the chip-removal features of the tap allows for a safer production environment, more stable machining and reliable output.

Other taps of the CoroTap 100 line are available for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and other hard materials (ISO P, K, N and H).
