Salzburg-based machine-tool company EMCO and its subsidiaries recently revealed the UMILL 1000, a multifunctional, 5-axis machining center. According to a company release, the UMILL 1000 is designed as a “bridge” between the company’s UMILL 750 and UMIL 1500 models and features combined turning and milling operations.

The UMILL 1000 features 55 mm roller guides on the X and Y axes, standard direct drives in the linear axes, and torque drives in the A and C axes, which EMCO says guarantees precise machining. The UMILL 1000’s travel distances are 900 mm in X, 1,000 mm in Y, and 700 mm in Z, and the center also features an A-axis swivel range of plus/minus 125 degrees.

The UMILL 1000’s motor spindle has a power output of 34 kW, a maximum torque of 138 Nm, and can rotate at 15,000 rpm. It can handle workpieces of 1,000mm diameter, 600mm height, and up to 1,000kg in weight with a single clamping.

For tools, the UMILL 1000’s tool magazine comes with 30 positions and can be expanded to have up to 90 stations.

The UMILL 1000 is available with control technology from Siemens, Sinumerik ONE, or Heidenhain, TNC7.
