Aluminum full grip pie jaws provide solid gripping surface
DILLON MANUFACTURING INC. offers full grip pie jaws made from extruded aluminum. The full grip jaws are less porous than castings, according to the company, and are comparatively stronger and more reliable. The jaws, which Dillon says maximize contact area for a solid gripping surface with less part distortion, are suitable for high-speed machining, precision boring, tapping, drilling, and finishing applications.
The jaws are also available in other materials and sizes: Dillon offers the jaws in brass, 1018 steel, and cast iron in diameters up to 28 inches, with a modifiable height of 10 inches. The width can be adjusted to exceed the face diameter of the chuck, for increased capacity.
Dillon’s chuck jaws are also available in 1.5mm by 60 degrees, 3.0mm by 60 degrees, 1/16th by 90 degrees, and 3/32 x 90 degrees serrations; American standard and metric tongue and groove; and acme or square serrated key type mounting interfaces.
The company also offers custom designs with specialty heights, diameters, and configurations.
