Meltric Corporation, a manufacturer of industrial plugs and receptacles, has announced the P66 industrial plug and receptacle, an electrical connection suitable for use delivering power in harsh environments. The copper-free aluminum and stainless steel plug system is rated to deliver 660 amps at 1,100 volts AC and 1,500 volts DC.

For use in industrial or hazardous environments, the PGG includes several safety features, including IP66/IP67 water and dust protection, and IK10 impact resistance. According to Meltic’s website, the plug can be safely operated between -40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Additionally, it has a magnetic reed switch pilot circuit, a neutral terminal, cord-to-cord connectivity, on-device lock-together, and a reversable drawbar mechanism. The plug can be configured in straight or right-angle configurations.

In a statement accompanying the connection’s launch, Meltric CEO Mark Broman said the P66 is meant for safe electrical connections in demanding locations.

The “P66 was purposefully built for the realities of modern industry, where high-amperage power meets electrification needs and employee safety requirements,” Broman said. It “is designed to withstand the rigors of rugged, industrial environments while delivering unmatched safety, flexibility, and performance.”

Meltric recommends the P66 for industrial usage at sites such as shipyards, ports, mines, oil and gas operations, data centers, or other operations that use heavy equipment.
