JERGENS INC. cast iron tooling columns are U.S.-made and available now with Ball Lock® and QLS top tool mounting systems, meaning they offer greater possibilities for a wider range of horizontal machining, with quick-change functionality.
The two new mounting systems offer quick change for both large and small vises. Ball Lock provides increased capability using larger production vises and plate work, while QLS makes the connection for smaller solutions, such as OK Vise and Jergens popular 5CV self-centering vises. Columns can be mounted via direct mounting or Zero Point System (ZPS), offering quick change for the entire setup.
New column styles include square, cross, and rectangular. The square and cross styles are well suited for high-density, multi-part fixtures, or incorporating multiple operations into a single column.
The cross style allows the added benefit of increased spindle access near the column, eliminating the need for extra-long tools.
The larger upright faces of the rectangular columns are ideal for applications involving larger workpieces.
Jergens tooling columns are customizable as well as easily integrated into full custom design and build projects. Popular patterns and methods include tapped grid, bushed, and tapped grid for modular fixturing applications, or for quick-change, add either Ball Lock® receiver bushings or ZPS modules.
The single piece, stress-relieved class 40 cast iron construction is engineered for maximum rigidity applications. These columns increase horizontal machining potential and provide a solid basis for custom workholding to suit specific customer needs.
