“Advanced machine tool technology has increased productivity. But this technology still requires skilled and trained people to run it. Shops must continually invest in employee training, and a good starting point is designating 2 percent or 3 percent of paid labor to fund education. So for an employee making $50,000 per year, his or her employer should invest $1,000 to $1,500 in training/education for them,” said Rod Jones, Chief Learning Officer at Mori Seiki University, speaking during a presentation at the Westec show in Los Angeles.
