Boasting more than 300 installations worldwide, the Tricept T9000 parallel kinematic machining system, from Loxin of Spain, performs milling, drilling, routing, deburring and finishing, optical inspection and touch probing, fastener/ rivet installation, even friction stir welding with just a change of tooling. It is available in the United States through Hartwig Inc. (www.hartwiginc.com).

Linear actuators and a central structural tube, both mounted to a gimbal support structure, make up one end of the Tricept. At the other end, tripod struts and tubes come together in a stable triangular arrangement around the machine’s 2-axis rotary head.
