Mazak Optonics Corp. is planning to move to a new, $10-million North American Headquarters complex, in Elgin, Ill., in December.

The company is building its new headquarters on an eight-acre parcel of land near Interstate 90 and Randall Road. The headquarters building will compliment the company’s laser manufacturing plant that was recently built in Minokamo, Japan.

The new North American headquarters complex will total 50,000 sq. ft., doubling and replacing the space the company occupied in Schaumburg, Ill.

It will include two-story office building with 20,000 sq. ft. of administrative and training space, a 25,000-sq.-ft. showroom that will have room for as many as 18 machines, and a 5,000-sq.-ft. parts distribution center that the company said will house more than $4 million in parts.

The company is a unit of Yamazaki Mazak Corp., which also owns machine tool maker Mazak Corp., and is the largest supplier of CO2 laser cutting systems in North America.
