Mitsui Seiki’s Vertex series high-precision vertical machining centers has been expanded with a new, larger machine. The Vertex 750-5X is a response to requests from Mitsui Seiki’s customers and the precision component sector, according to the builder. Typical applications for this model include aerospace components, molds and dies, and similar precision components.
The Vertex 750 presents a series of advantages for high-performance machining. Its work envelope measures 750 mm in the X axis, 800 mm in the Y-axis, and 700 mm in the Z axis. Its weight capacity is 500 Kg (1,100 lbs), yet the footprint remains small at 2,200 X 3,740 mm (87X147 inches).
As for performance, Mitsui Seiki points to the machine’s “hand scraped casting” for ultra high geometrical accuracy; a rapid traverse rate with 48m/min (1,890 ipm); and a feed rate of 20m/min (787 ipm).
The Vertex 750 has an integrated trunnion so it can offer a fourth and fifth axes, with maximum work size of 950 mm dia. and 650 mm high. It offers 15,000 or 25,000 high stiffness spindles, with 40 taper or HSK63 tool types.
Loading and operation are aided by n ergonomic design. The Fanuc 31i CNC controller allows multi-axis contouring.
Mitsui Seiki claims the accuracy of its Vertex line rivals its best jig-boring equipment and matches the performance of its larger machining centers.
