Glebar Expands ECG Assets with Everite Machine

June 4, 2020
With its second acquisition this year, Glebar Co. has purchased Everite Machine Products, and is positioning itself as "the main source for electrochemical grinding solutions."

Glebar Co., which designs and develops modular precision centerless grinding, micro grinding, and electrochemical grinding machinery, announced it has purchased Everite Machine Products, a developer of electrochemical grinding technology. Everite's specialty is machinery for "complex and precise manufacturing requirements in many industries, including the medical and aerospace markets." The terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Earlier this year Glebar announced its purchase of Tridex Technology, another specialty developer of electrochemical grinding (ECG) processes. ECG is a "precision abrasive" process typically used for tube cutoff of materials like stainless-steel hypodermic needle tubing, where deburring is impractical.

"We will be focused on building upon existing machine features, bringing both the Everite and Tridex technologies together to the benefit of our customers, while leveraging our expertise in integrated control and automated solutions to drive value for our customers," according to Glebar chief technology officer John Bannayan.

ECG is used in aerospace applications too, such as honeycomb materials and turbine airfoils, where material may be thin, fragile, and heat sensitive. It's also used to cut bars of high-temperature alloys, titanium, and tool steel in producing aerospace fasteners.

Materials like cobalt-chrome, Hastelloy, Inconel and Nitinol, which are very difficult to machine with conventional methods, can be cut easily and accurately with electrochemical grinding.

Everite offers burr-free cutoff, surface grinding, point grinding, and vertical grinding technologies that use electrochemical grinding systems.

"We are excited by this opportunity and welcome the Everite team to Glebar," stated CEO Robert Baker. "Combining the capabilities of Tridex and Everite will increase our ability to provide ECG solutions to our expanded customer base. Additionally, we will bring Glebar's service and aftermarket capabilities to the Everite customer install base strengthening our existing partnerships through improved service and support."
