Hardinge Inc. (www.hardinge.com) said its new GD210LP lowprofile rotary table provides rigidity, speed, accuracy and repeatability in an affordable package.

High stiffness and rigidity are accomplished with large-diameter bearings and a fail-safe clamp system allowing part weights to 220 lb. Radial load testing resulted in a stiffness four-times greater than a competitive model.

The GD210LP produces as much as 233 lb-ft (315Nm) of clamping torque to handle off-center drilling, cross-axis milling and other highforce cutting applications.

A fast clamp and release in milliseconds reduces cycle time.

The unit’s hardened and ground steel cross-axis helical gear provides long life and continued accuracy.

The unit has a precision ground, 210-mm slotted face plate and features rapid table rotation to 40 rpm. The face plate can be removed to mount a manual jaw chuck directly to the A2-5 spindle to allow for the gripping of round parts. The rotary table can be operated as a stand-alone unit, in horizontal or vertical positions with a servo control, or as a true fourth axis connected directly to the machine.

The low-profile footprint requires minimal space on the table to allow vises or other fixtures to remain in place for other jobs and to reduce setup and teardown time.

Accuracy is ±15 arc-sec with ±3 arc-sec repeatability Double eccentrics design provides for high-quality gear mesh. Customers can perform future gear wear compensation for extended life and improved accuracy over time.

Units will be available for delivery in December 2008.
