The airlock provides an airtight seal at the bottom of the cyclone and constantly discharges particulate that the cyclone separates from an air stream. This cast iron or welded-steel airlock, which is similar in concept to a revolving officebuilding entrance door, but on a horizontal axis, ranges from 8 to 14 in. in diameter and is powered by a 2-hp motor. Also available is a remote motor controller with pilot lights and a delay timer that allows the airlock to remain on for 30 sec after the blower is off, so particulate conveys out of the ducts and cyclone.
