Boeing Announces Layoffs, Restructuring At Wichita Site
Boeing Company said it plans to cut approximately 800 positions at its Integrated Defense Systems facility in Wichita during 2009. Boeing attributes the reductions to the end of some programs and the delay in the U.S. Air Force tanker-replacement program. The layoffs will impact managers and both salaried and hourly workers. NATO To Acquire Boeing C-17s
Boeing said that the NATO Airlift Management Agency (NAMA) general manager, on behalf of the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) nations, has signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance with the U.S. government for the acquisition of two Boeing C-17 Globemaster III long-range cargo jets. Read More

General Dynamics To Acquire AxleTech International
General Dynamics and The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, have entered into a definitive agreement for General Dynamics to acquire AxleTech International, a global manufacturer and supplier of axles, axle components, planetary axles, independent suspensions, brakes and aftermarket parts for military vehicles, commercial specialty trucks, and off-highway machines used in the construction, material handling, forestry, mining and agricultural markets. General Dynamics Gets $286 Million For Nuclear Sub Support
The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $286 million contract for planning yard work, engineering and technical support for nuclear submarines. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. The contract has a total potential value of $1.8 billion over five years if all options are exercised and funded. Read More
