GE Fanuc Automation recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the joint venture between General Electric and Fanuc Ltd. of Japan at the joint ventures’ headquarters in Charlottesville, Va. Commemoration ceremonies incuding the company’s employees, executives from the parent companies, local government officials, honored guests who participated in the joint venture since its inception.
As part of the commemoration, the joint venture announced it was providing donations to the University of Virginia's Engineering and Applied Sciences Department, and to the United Way for the establishment of a program to mentor students in science and technology.
GE Fanuc Automation said it would provide eight PACSystems RX3i Training Systems to the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department to help in the education of engineering students. The company valued the gift at approximately $80,000.
Separately, GE Fanuc Automation, announced that it would give $20,000 to the United Way – Thomas Jefferson Area (Virginia) for the creation of a program titled “Virtual Academy of Science and Technology” that is designed to connect youth who are interested in math and science with online mentors from local businesses and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. ‘’
In celebrating the anniversary, the company also recognized more than 200 employees who have 20-plus years of service.
