Honda Motorcycle Plant at Kumamoto Factory Begins Operation

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. said production has begun at the new motorcycle plant it constructed within the property of its factory in Kumamoto, Japan. The company said the new plant was built with the concept of a "people-friendly and environmentally-responsible plant" and emphasis on "light, wind and water." Employing Honda's state-of-the-art high efficiency production technologies, the new plant will serve as the global leader of Honda's motorcycle production operations around the world. Read More

General Dynamics Gets $109 Million Satellite Communications Contract

General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies has been awarded $109 million from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J., to provide specialized satellite communications earth terminals and support services for Increment One of the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program. Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide the U.S. Army 299 Satellite Transportable Terminals (STT) and two Unit Hub SATCOM Trucks

PPG Aerospace Develops Advanced-Performance Coatings For F-16 Jets

F-16 jets flown by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are being painted with a smooth, fast-drying primer and high-gloss, lightweight, advanced-performance coating (APC) topcoat by PPG Industries' aerospace business. Desoprime HS CA7233 epoxy primer and Desothane HS CA9800 polyurethane APC topcoat by PPG Aerospace - PRC-DeSoto will improve durability of the familiar red, white and blue colors of the jets flown by the air demonstration squadron, according to Duane Utter, PPG global segment manager, military coatings and classified products. UTC Sees Demand for Sikorsky S-76 Helicopters Continuing Growth

Market projections show that demand for the Sikorsky S-76® helicopter continues to grow in Latin America. Currently more than 70 are in service in the region. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. To date, more than 700 S-76 helicopters have been delivered world wide, logging more than 4.8 million flight hours in operation in 37 countries. The S-76 helicopters are serving in multi-missions that include offshore oil, VIP including head of state, emergency medical transport, search and rescue, and civil defense. Read More
