From Standard To High-End Machines
Affordable High Tech A lot of machine tool builders offer affordable models. And, while these machines may be scaled back or streamlined when it comes to options, they still incorporate the same advanced engineering and innovations found on high-end machines. Accuracy Drives Machine Tools Find out exactly what goes into building an ultrahigh-precision machine. From handscraping to specialized facilities, it all adds up to machines with 3D volumetric accuracies around 15 microns. CBN Improves Machine Performance You've got your high-end machine tool. Now run the tooling that will optimize its performance. Why Robots? In today's manufacturing world, the one-man-one-machine scenario just doesn't make sense for most shops. You can increase productivity/machine use by as much as 90 percent. Here's how. Common Mistakes Made When Automating Ok, so you are ready to automate. Here are tips on how to avoid mistakes that many shops make. When 2+3 Doesn't Equal 5 Running your 5-axis machining center more like a 3-axis machine can add up to more precise machining operations, especially if you're a mold shop. Less Electrode Wear A new control reportedly reduces electrode wear to less than 0.1 percent while increasing machining speeds by as much as 20 percent. The control also eliminates the need for multiple electrodes.
