OES, Inc. (www.oes-inc.com) has released a new Piezo Strain sensor combined with an amplifier module that overcomes short duration signal problems that arise when retrofitting in-process force measurement on older programmable logic controllers.

The Sample Hold feature of the Piezo Strain Transducer and Amplifier Module (model MMU) from OES Inc. allows even older PLC systems to stay in synch with the fastest production cycles. The MMU captures and "holds" the peak reading until the PLC can scan and reset the sample hold value. This feature ensures high reliability in force measurement for fast machine cycles.

The Piezo Strain Transducer and Amplifier Module is a force measurement solution for use in a wide range of process monitoring and control applications.

Its high resolution analogue output (0-5VDC) can be directly correlated to units of force. OES says this system is ideally suited for monitoring and verifying stamping, crimping, press fit, riveting or other force fabrication applications, including material presence and misalignment.
