Charmilles has introduced a new series of die-sinking EDMs — Roboform 550 — that the company says incorporates a dynamic process controls system to make the machines easier to use and improves efficiency. Charmilles says its distinctive control system uses graphics to illustrate machining operations so that operators can understand them intuitively and spontaneously, while reducing the need for special training. The company says the controls also recommend ideal sizes for electrodes, and help to determine the number of electrodes needed for a job. The controls also help to organize job sequencing based on presets and previous jobs. www.charmillesus.com
