Kennametal Inc. has developed new tool insert materials for tackling high-performance finish turning to medium machining of steel workpieces, such as carbon, alloy and tool steels, as well as ferritic, martensitic and precipitation-hardened stainless steels. The KC9105 turning grade is available in seven KennaPerfect Kenloc geometries. The company says the inserts feature an advanced carbide substrate with deformation resistance for dry machining and long cuts and can be used with coolant at high speeds. Kennametal says post-coat treatments for the inserts reduce chip hammering and built-up edges to extend tool life. www.kennametal.com
