Steinmeyer, Inc. (www.steinmeyer.com) is offering a new ultra-compact precision positioning stage model MT63-DC. The stage is available in single or 3-axis configurations and has an overall height of 25.5 mm (1.0 in.) with a straightness/flatness runout of 3 microns. A runout of 1 micron is also available. Included is the drive mechanism — a precision preloaded miniature lead screw with 0.5-mm pitch coupled to a

DC motor with rotary encoder. The table weighs 0.5 kg (1.10 lb) but can handle loads of up to 20 Newtons. It offers positional accuracy of 5 µm and repeatability of 1 µm.

The standard stage includes backlash-free preloaded miniature slides for precise linear guidance, non-contact limit switches and a 63 mm (2.48 in.) square footprint. Options include preparation for cleanroom and vacuum compatibility, different encoder resolutions and different screw pitches for higher speeds. The compact 3-axis version is model MP63 - 25 - DC. Its overall dimensions (with all axes centered) are 63 mm (2.48 in.) by 63 mm (2.48 in.) by 111 mm (4.37 in.).
