A luminator indexable milling cutters from Ingersoll Cutting Tools, Rockford, Ill., are for heavy roughing and fine finishing aluminum at both low and high-speeds. Aluminator end and face mills come in multiple densities.
Double-positive, deep-dish molded rake-face insert geometries reportedly provide free-cutting performance for machining along thin walls of 0.100 in., or less, without disturbing or distorting the remaining material. Four cutting edges/insert maximize usage, and each insert is precision ground on locating seats and cutting-edge peripheries. The combination of qualified inserts and the Aluminator's 0.100-in. wiping flat is said to provide fine surface finishes, even in highfeed applications.
