The Ewag Compact Line tool grinder.

Korber Schleifring presented its Ewag Compact Line tool grinding machine, the Schaudt CamGrind S camshaft grinding machine, and the Studer S242 for grinding and turning. All the machines are available in the United States through United Grinding Technologies (www.grinding.com).

The compact and flexible 5-axis Compact Line grinds indexable inserts made of carbide, Cermet and CBN/PCD and has a fully integral 6-axis Fanuc robot. For camshafts up to 650-mm long, the CamGrind S works as an individual machine or as a machining cell within a production line to grind surface profiles such as polygons, ellipses and free profiles. Cylindrical grinding and hardturning capabilities highlight the S242 that lets users machine, in one clamping, high-speed shafts, guide pins, toolholding fixtures and other delicate components requiring extremely narrow runout and position tolerances.
