Navistar Inc. will produce 325 International® ProStar®+ tractor trucks for Boyd Bros. Transportation Inc., following a recent contract placement. The flatbed carrier trucks will be fitted with EPA 2010 Advanced EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) MaxxForce® 13 engines.

Boyd Bros. presently operates over 60 International ProStar trucks with EPA 2007 MaxxForce 13 engines, and has logged nearly 8 million miles on these trucks. “We’ve had great results with the existing ProStar tractors in our fleet and look forward to even more success with the ProStar+,” stated Boyd Bros. chief operating officer Chris Cooper. “From the significant fuel economy advantages we’ve realized, to the appreciation our drivers have for the quiet, comfortable ride, we’re excited to reward our drivers with the ProStar+.”

Boyd Bros. has more than 1,000 trucks in its flatbed carrier fleet, and specializes in time-sensitive transportation of steel products and building materials.

“We’re proud to win new business from Boyd Bros. and we look forward to delivering the ProStar+ to their fleet,” said Jim Hebe, senior vice president, North American sales operations, Navistar. “Boyd Bros. prides itself on driver satisfaction and the ProStar+ delivers a winning combination of driver-inspired comfort features and outstanding fuel economy.”

Navistar added that all of the ProStar+ trucks delivered to Boyd Bros. will be equipped with a factory-installed, MaxxPower battery-powered HVAC system in the sleeper compartment.

“Boyd Bros. has always listened to our drivers and we strive to make improvements that will have a positive impact on their lives,” added Cooper. “As we take delivery of the new ProStar+ over the next several years, we’ll be providing our drivers with the most fuel-efficient and driver-friendly trucks on the road today.”
