New X-51 Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades from Simonds International (www.simondsinternational.com) are designed to handle the high temperatures generated when cutting exotic alloys and tough materials.

The company said the blades last longer than regular M42 blades reducing blade replacement costs and the frequency of blade changeover.

The blades have M51 tooth tips to provide long life when cutting through cast iron, tool steel, die steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloys, titanium, Inconel and other exotic alloys. They are designed for long runs and for cutting large cross sections and high-temperature alloys.

The blades’ combination of cobalt and tungsten at the cutting edge and fatigue-resistant blade backer give them high resistance to frictional heat failure at the tooth tip.

The blades are available in widths of 1.00 in., 1.25 in. and 1.50 in. and in a variety of tooth pitch configurations from 2-3 teeth-per-in., 3-4 teeth-per-in. and 4-6 teethper- in. for flexibility based upon the materials being.

The X-51 blades are available with Simonds’ SineWave technology that provides an aggressive broaching action in the cut, enhancing cutting ability, reducing work time and increasing blade life.

This feature incorporates a series of ramps on the back edge of the blades that allows bandsaw machines to exert more force into a cut without increasing machine pressure. The rocking motion of SineWave ensures less tooth-to-work piece contact to increase penetration for fast cutting.
