Andrew Tool & Machining, Superior Tool & Machining, streamlining efforts to improve performance

Two Minneapolis machine shops — Andrew Tool & Machining and Superior Tool & Machining — have developed a strategy to unify several critical areas of their businesses, “for the sole purpose of improving products and services while striving to consistently exceed customer requirements,” they announced.

Both companies are to be operating units of a new business, Precision Manufacturing Group, effective immediately. The decision was made “after careful review of the various product and services both companies offer to specialized markets such as medical, aerospace, defense and commercial, as well as, integrating targeted opinions from key customers,” according to their statement.

Precision Manufacturing Group will be managed by a new “executive team,” who will monitor the operations and provide support to both companies to maintain their existing strengths and promote continuous improvement.

Another initiative will be to give all Precision Manufacturing Group customers full access to its engineers, the company announced.

In its release the new organization stated that sharing talent and expertise among its constituent companies will strengthen sales efforts, optimize quoting capabilities, improve accounting functions, and improve information technology and project management.

In particular, Precision Manufacturing Group indicates that, effective immediately, quotations will be addressed “exclusively” by a team whose sole directive is “to meet 100% on-time delivery status.” It asserted that on-time deliveries of its products “will greatly improve.”
