Low-Foaming Cutting Fluid for Better Surface Finish

Heavy-duty, non-chlorinated, and semi-synthetic formula

A new cutting fluid from Walter USA LLC reportedly will improve the surface finish of machined parts and improve the overall cleanliness of the machining process. Most important, the Walter Valenite VPLFC coolant delivers the advanced foam-controlling properties needed for the high-pressure fluid systems that are common for high-speed machining.

A recent entry to the developer’s ValCool™ cutting fluids series, the VPLFC is a heavy-duty, non-chlorinated, semi-synthetic coolant. What distinguishes this new formulation is its advanced foam-control properties for high-pressure systems (1,000 psi and up.)  It was designed to exceed the most stringent metalworking coolant criteria, according to Walter USA.

The VPLFC supports longer tool life, better surface finishes, and reduced consumption, said the developer, and it provides long-term emulsion stability and foam control. Less foam enhances lubricity, which is particularly important for high-speed machining. Further, the fact that it is non-chlorinated helps promote better surface finishes.

Users report that less of the new coolant is used in certain applications, compared to other coolants, while still achieving excellent results. It also enhances overall system cleanliness, rejecting tramp oils, maintaining stable pH levels, and thus extending the fluid’s useful life.
